BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL
We have wrap around care for our Early Birds and Night Owls
Updated with effect from Summer term 2022
We have two wrap around care clubs: Early Birds and Night Owls. These are led by two members of our staff; Mrs Wendy Bodger who also works as a teaching assistant and is the senior lunchtime supervisor in school is the club supervisor; Mrs Alison Hatton, works as the deputy supervisor.
All sessions must be booked and paid for in advance via School Gateway (this is the same APP used for lunch money and trips). Breakfast club.
If you intend to pay with childcare vouchers do not pay first as we then must refund the money for you to be able to use the voucher.
In line with the ethos and values of the school we are encouraging children to be participants in rather than recipients of provision. Children will play, learn, help one another and learn important life skills before and after school. This will include cleaning up after themselves. Hopefully parents and carers will see the benefits of these life skills in their own homes!
Bookings open before There are limits on the number of places we can provide. If the session you want is full, please email the office requesting to be added to the waiting list. We will contact families in order of the waiting list should a place become available.
Early Birds at Kingsmead
Childcare from 7.30am for working families
We offer childcare with a breakfast club for working families from 7:30am and for any family who'd like their child to eat breakfast in school from 8:15. There is a charge for all before school childcare which must be booked and paid for in advance. We ask for 48 hours notice. Staff are on site to care for and supervise the children and help them learn life skills of eating well, table manners and cleaning up after themselves. There are two prices and children arriving for the later session must not be on site any earlier than 8.10.
7:30 - £7.00 with breakfast
8:00 - £4.00 with breakfast
In addition to childcare, a charge is made for the food which is provided by Edsential who also provide our school meals. Money for breakfast comes direct from children's lunch money account which means children in Reception and Key Stage 1 must have their account topped up from home if having their breakfast in school.
Breakfast includes:
Milk or fruit juice
Cereal or yoghurt with fruit compote
Toast or bagel
As children are already used to at lunch time, they will develop good life skills by cleaning up after themselves and wiping down tables to help cleaning staff coming in to give the room and hall a thorough clean.
Night owls after school club
Childcare until 5.50pm for working families
After school, children coming to Night Owls will help prepare and share a snack; unlike in the morning, this is included within the general cost. Children will also be expected to do their home reading. Older children and staff will hear younger children read and write in their reading diaries. Most will have read to another child or adult before going home and all staying beyond 4.15pm will have done their reading homework and had an opportunity to work on other home learning such as Times Tables Rockstars, access their Google Classroom, instrument practice (in the music room next door) or learn their spellings. There will also be time for play and from 5.30pm, together with the adults and as a community, children will be deciding which toys would benefit from a deeper clean, wiping down tables and getting the room ready for the morning arrivals.
Up to 4.15pm - £7.00
Up to 5.50pm - £13.00
Prices will be reviewed periodically and more often in the early life of the club.
